It Ends With Us- Film review

It Ends With Us - new film with Blake Lively. I wasn't expecting much from this film but I was surprised that I actually liked it.

It starts with a 'romantic comedy' vibe that brings to mind some of those classic romantic comedies that we all loved in 90s or early 2000s. For some reason those type of moves are not being made anymore so it was giving me a cosy feeling of familiarity. After a while the film develops into more drama but it has been subsided by the way it was filmed which was an interesting take to convey the message but without unnecessary violence and grafic scenes, it was a nice change after so many movies that have too much violence just for the sake of it.

Blake Lively was great for the role however I am not sure why they have made her wear so many dungarees, it was a bizarre choice of outfits especially that the other actress who played the sister was wearing the most amazing flamboyant outfits that could have easily been worn by Carrie in Sex and the City. I am sure they could have chosen something better for Blake but they failed her in that departament. As a fashionista that was a but like nails on a chalkboard to watch.

The main message of the movie is , without spoiling it , to end relationships that are violent , which is obviously a good message in general, however the movie is set in wealthy part of society , the main characters are from wealthy backgrounds and have top tier jobs or businesses so it would be much easier for them to exit any violent relationship than the rest of society.

Overall I have enjoyed watching it even though it was a slightly bizarre hybrid between a romantic comedy and then an awkward transition into violence that has not been filmed entirely and mainly happens in the imagination of the viewer through clever editing , I guess it is supposed to convey the deceiving nature of those type of relationships. The film touches important issues without being too graphic about it which can be really appreciated in a recent world of movies with lots of violence for the sake of violence.
