Magnificent, dazzling and enchanting performance of The Nutcracker at The Royal Opera House yesterday. The sign of the Christmas approaching and the way to get into the christmassy mood. A beautiful magical performance from the Royal Ballet featuring: Roberta Marquez as Sugar Plum Fairy & Steven McRae as The Prince. I have been happy to enjoy it in the cinema, the new way to enjoy the ballet and opera for the late comers who have forgotten to book their tickets (lucky two last tickets!) or simply for the ones on the budget. The show is running throughout December and half of January. To check availability click on ROH website, sometimes they have a few spare tickets on the day of the performance in case it shows as sold out at the moment. As all the finest shows in London it is best to book well in advance. Or perhaps try Viagogo website.
For the baller and opera fanatics, the Royal Opera House has many behind the scenes videos and interesting articles. Did you know that the Royal Ballet spends £250 000 on pointe shoes? That is a lot of money spent just on shoes! You can support Pointe Shoes Appeal click here. I think it is a great cause. The costs of the production must be enormous.
Another interesting article is this one here about the costs of seeing an opera or ballet show, it's not as expensive as it seems to be and the ROH is trying to entice the audience to come by keeping the tickets cost low, which is great as everyone can see it and enjoy the performance, cinema live shows as I have experienced yesterday are also a great idea.
Enjoy The Nutcracker.
